Don Fye
Don is a principal with Redstones and specializes in the area of wireless technology strategy, assessment, and implementation plan development. His accomplishments include:
- Advised leading provider of wireless network interoperations, roaming and clearinghouse services in wireless LAN, 2.5G and 3G wireless data technologies and business development. Active in WFA and other industry trade associations establishing best practices for WLAN roaming and WiFi/cellular convergence.
- Advised North American division of premier European luxury automobile manufacturer on implementation of enhanced telematic services.
- Advised successful US CLEC in wireless broadband IP access network planning to develop strategy for delivery of bundled voice and data services.
- Leader of GSM radio network planning for Afghanistan's first GSM network. Responsible for capacity and coverage planning, equipment engineering, and optimization of country-wide network launched in April 2002.
- Pioneered development of a new approach to delivery of DSL equivalent portable wireless data services using WLAN technology in unlicensed spectrum. Directed business case opportunity analysis and customer field trial of this promising network technology.
- Technology team leader for international wireless license initiatives, responsible for detailed network design and capital planning of GSM, TDMA, and CDMA networks.
Previously, Don held a variety of technology positions at Verizon, GTE Wireless and GTE Laboratories. He has published or presented over 50 papers and has been awarded eight patents on wireless and optical communications.
